And so, the search for Mattie and the bats had begun. Instead of Batty doing all of the carrying for Zak, Leslie decided to take her turn this time. As the two bats, fairies and human began to look and fly everywhere from the forest to search for them, they began in conversation.
"I hope Mattie's doing okay." Leslie mutter to herself, but since Batty was flying next to her, he was the only one to hear this from his bat ears. "Why are doing this search rescue again?" He had to remind himself out loud. "We have to. I don't care for Mattie like you do Batty, but..." Leslie needed to rethink her thoughts carefully before finishing the rest from her speech and sentence. "Have you ever imagine being with someone you want to spend the rest of your life with but you're afraid you can't sum up the courage to do that?" She asked.
Batty was growing worried where she was coming with this question, but he knew that sort of feeling. "If she only knew..." He thought to himself sadly.

As Crysta flew alongside of Leslie she was starting to feel a little woozy though she had no clue as to why. She shook her head once and then twice to snap out of it as her vision was now starting to get really blurry. Zak being the first to notice was about to ask her what was wrong when Crysta suddenly stopped in mid air in a unconscious sort of state. "Crysta!" he yelled before screaming as he had suddenly without warning turned back to his normal size and was now plummeting fast to the ground like Crysta. Luckily he had managed to unhook Leslie's claws from his shoulders to prevent her from falling along with him before catching Crysta in his hands and falling into a bush with a loud thud sound. ''Ow...." he mumbled

"EEEEK!!" Leslie squeal in terror as the weight she was carrying from Zak had suddenly grown back to his normal size. "LESLIE!!" Batty shouted, catching this whole scene as it went along. Batty caught his crush with his arms on time still flapping after Zak had let her go and fell along with Crysta back down from the ground. Leslie and Batty swoon off on the ground safely next to them. "What happened? Is she okay?" Leslie asked Zak.

"Huh?" he replies barely understanding a word Leslie had said. He painfully sat up opening his hands but to his surprise all he saw a blue light. 'Oh no...don't tell me..' he thought as he looked around for Pips to make sure his suspicions were correct. When he spotted him he was only a green light to him. "Oh great just perfect" he mumbled to himself. "Crysta, can you hear me?" he asks. "Wha- what happened?" She asks sitting up. "Zak, you're normal size again!" she says noticing she was sitting in Zak's open palm. Zak only arched an eyebrow as he now couldn't understand a word Crysta was saying. 'Oh no my magic...it wore off on him he can't understand us anymore....' Crysta thought

Leslie and Batty couldn't follow what was going on. Now that Zak had return to his normal human size, it became worse for the bats and the fiary. With Crysta's magic wore off, Zak could bare a single word neither of his friends would say. "Didn't we have a little red hair skinless bug with us before?" Batty reminded the others. Leslie scratch the back of her head with her left claw. "Where he go?" She said looking back and fourth. There from the corner to the right next to the bushes, there was a soft goan with a blinking amout of green light. "There he is! Right there!" Batty pointed.
Leslie rushed over to Pips side. "You all right little fairy bug?" She said scooping him up. Pips rub his head. "Ugh...I....I think so. What happened?"
"I don't know. One minute we were doing fine, the next part, human boy went back to big size again." She told the red hair fairy. "Think he's gotta get his hearing check." Batty said to Leslie and Pips pointing over to Zak who could not hear a thing Crysta was trying to tell him. Pips flutter his wings to fly out from Leslie's wings, but something terrible had happen. Not only Crysta's power had wore off, but the worse had yet to come.
Suddenly, Pips green light from his legs had faded out and his wings brought him down back on the ground, landing on his feet. "Hey! What the--?!" Confused, Pips tries to fly back into air, but he couldn't. "What's happening?!" He cried! Trying his best, but no matter how much he could do, his wings and glowing light couldn't come back to him.

Crysta looked over at Pips she was shocked by the fact that his wings were useless as he could no longer fly. Wondering if the same had happened to her she tried to fly out of Zak's palm but she too could not fly. "What's happened? Why can't we fly?" she says trying not to freak out. 'Oh no..not only can I not understand these guys or see Pips and Crysta anymore they can't fly either....what's happening here?" Zak wondered. "Uh here let me help" he says lying his hand palm face up on the ground and Crysta jumped off his hand landing softly on the ground

Leslie and Batty watch wordlessly as Pips and Crysta try all they can to fly or use their powers, but it was hopeless and without Zak's will power from magical fairy communcating, their chances to save Mattie and the others bats was forever doom...least to them they thought the plan was gonna be doom to them for a life time.
"This is terrible!" Leslie spoke up. Batty nods. "There's only one thing we CAN do." Leslie looked at him hoping there was a plan in mind. "What's that?"
"Run away!!" Batty says quickly before getting ready to take off, but Leslie had to stop him. "Oh no you don't!" She says, grabbing him by the feet and pulling him down. "That's your best plan? We still need to find Mattie."
"How? We lost our powers and Zak can't see or hear us!" Pips agrue, trying again to fly, but it was no use. "I'm with him on this part. Let's back down!" Stated Batty. Being the strong willed independent of the team, Leslie was no quitter. "Without trying?
I'm not giving up! We can still save Mattie and the others if we can just find out what's doing this to the little flying bugs. And the human!"
Just then, a think smell of the smoke spread through across the sky. Batty gagged from the sign when the smell got caught through his batty nose. "Gak! Whose burning their pot roast?"

Zak manages to smell the smoke and carefully stands up. "There's smoke guys. That must be where Mattie and the other bats are being held" He says though he was not entirely sure they could understand him. "There you see Batty we can't give up we now at least have a clue to where Mattie and the others are being held" Crysta says refusing to give up as well

"In there? No! No no no no!! I'm not going in there! Humans live there! They experiments little creatures, turn them into handbags and hats, clothes, shoes and...PURSES!! AHH!!" Batty shouted, fleeing from behind a tree to hide. Pips walk over to him by aside and yanked his wing to come. "Stop being such a scary bat Batty." Batty fought back. "Case you haven't notice, I AM a bat! What do you take me for? A possum?
"Ugh men!" Leslie thought shaking her head in disapointment. "We're doom!"

"Come on guys this is no time to be arguing we need to figure out some way to get to that building and rescue Mattie and the other bats" Crysta says to Pips and Batty

"I'll scout up and search up ahead." Leslie volunteer, but Batty fought back down from that idea, afraid of Leslie's safety if she went up in the sky to find out the missing clues to Mattie's capture. "Huh? No ma'am! Those things are dangerous Leslie!"
"Batty it's okay. I can take care of it." Says Leslie, giving her a look that tells him that everything was gonna be okay, but foolish as he was, Batty could not read minds or face experssions. "Don't be a fool Les, danger paths are for men only."
Leslie grew angery from this idea Batty may of been trying to point out, little did she knew Batty was only saying this to protect her from harm. "You're saying I can't rescue anyone cause I'm woman?!" Pips needed to break up the little heat up agruement before it got too ugly. "Batty let it go. She'll be fine. I'll go with her."
"You? But you can't fly! You lost your flight remember?" Leslie reminded the little boy fairy. "It's okay, I've face worse dangers than this...dark smoke or whatever you wanna called it. If you go by yourself, Batty will freak." Pips had to say. Leslie raise an eyebrown suscipously. "Why?"
Batty looked at her wide-eyed, scare from his thoughts and in return, left nothing but a big gulp.

Leslie didn't have time to bother asking questions on Batty's feelings, so she took the chance and let Pips go with her for permission. But before the two of them could leave, Batty wanted to get something outta his mouth. "Umm...Leslie, if something happens to you...up there....I just like you to know about the...."
"What's wrong Batty?" Asked Leslie with a little concern through her face and eyes. "I uhhh...uhhhh....."
"Batty quit the desperate love minds will ya? Save it for later!" Pips said interrupting rudely. Leslie look at Pips blankly with no comment to those words. "I have no idea what he means, but he's right Batty. Can this wait?" The she bat had to asked before Pips was gonna have another loosing temper moment. Batty gave his crush a small smile with a little nod. "Come on, let's go!" Reply Pips, hoping into Leslie's back. "Don't worry Batty, we'll be back. Promise!!" She says and leaves high up above to find out where the smoke was coming from, hopfully close if they were lucky.
Batty watch sadly as Pips and Leslie began to fly off and track down their clue to finding Mattie. "Ohh Leslie...." He mutters softly from below the tone of his whisper.

As Pips and Lesle flew together in sight where the dark smoke was coming from, the clouds and the sky gather in darkness. All the animals in the forest flee from the nasty smell that was wasting their air and making the plants died out.
Pips coughed as smoke drew much closer. "Any sign of anything?" He asked. "It's hard to see in this thick clouds." Leslie answer, also coughing. With the fairy still on her back, Leslie flew down close getting away from the gagging and burning smell. When they came to a stop, they landed on a big dry up tree. There they saw smoke coming from a bulding two stories high. It was dark yellow cover in grime on each side. "That must been where they're keeping Mattie and the others hostage. We gotta get back and tell the others." Says Pips. "But how are we gonna get inside?"
Before answering, a two trucks drove by and stop. Each driver got out and unload some packages from the back. Pips watch as the humans gather their belongings and saw from the front of the entrance two bodyguards protecting the door. "Leslie can you fly me up close over there?" He asked pointing. Thinking whatever it was that he was thinking, Leslie agreed. "Okay...I can try, but I can't promise nothing if we get caught." Pips rode back onto Leslie's back again and the two of them flew by and landed on the top of the door without being seen. Carefully, Pips watch from the point of the scenery, the bodyguards opening the front of the door letting the humans taking their big packages inside and closing after it.
"Come on! We gotta tell Crysta and think of a plan." Pips recommended. Leslie agreed and took Pips with her again and flew back where Batty, Zak and Crysta were waiting.
