Have any of you guys here wondered if Zak is from Sydney Australia why does he have an American accent like he is from California?
It's not that I don't like his voice in the movie I do but sometimes I wonder what it would've been like if he had been given an Australian accent like he is supposed to have and why they didn't make him have one in the first place? Lol.

Huh! Funny how you bring that up, but I like it when a lot of people point out stuff that I never catch til I know when they're actually right. It's happen to me before. Back in high school when my class and I were watching An American Tail, one of the students pointed out and notice that Fivel doesn't have the same accent like his parents has, but neither does his sister.
I think Zac could be from Australia, but I don't remember that saying on his ID when Crysta look at it. I may have to go back and check on the DVD again but if that's true, then I think maybe half of Zak's family could be part american. That's my only guess how he's got an american accent instead of an australian one.

Perhaps or maybe he didn't always live in Australia maybe he moved there recently before the movie and his accent hadn't changed yet lol but here is what I meant about it saying he was from Australia  Read his id very carefully lol the NSW stands for New South Wales btw |

Okay so if he's really from australia (and we got the shot to prove that) then maybe just maybe, I think that he was born in CA or maybe as you said, his voice hasn't develop to an australian tone yet. For some people, everyone knows where their original old home roots came from, but if they live in a different country, then sometimes some of their accents will not pick up.
It's the same with me. My roots come from mexico, but I don't speak in a mexican acccent or speak any spanish because I was born and raise in california.

That's a very good point. I came from Cali myself and since I have moved to Ohio I noticed a slight bit of accent difference when someone asked me to say my name and was like "You're from California aren't you?'' Lol. But anyway even though Zak lives in Australia in the movie he still has an american accent and uses american lingo so I think you and I are coming up with a theory now that maybe he wasn't always from Australia lol.

You guys make some very good points here, and I think that if you ever write fics about Zak and such- you should definitely elaborate on the backstory you gals are cooking up for him here. x3
Personally, I think the reason he doesn't have an Australian accent is, I believe a lot of the voice actors were American ones, and that the movie (or at least the voice acting) was done here in the United states, so it made more sense for them to get actors and actresses from home rather than try hiring all the way from Australia.
But you guys have a much more interesting story for it, lol. And i like that!

You know that is true what you did bring up Shauni. The movie for the main part was made in America except for the painting of the cells and the animators going to australia to be inspired to create ferngully and it's creatures living there. And it would be far more cheaper to have actors in our country than actors from another. But I also like to not just think from a films production point of view but a character's too which is why I have that theory behind Zak and if I was any good at writing fanfiction, which unfortunately i am not, I would totally write a huge back story for him  |

Understandable, it adds a new element to the character, y'know? And aw, don't say that! I thought the fan fiction you posted was just fine. <: I'm sure you could write something really awesome if you wanted.

That would be so cool if you wrote a Ferngully fanfiction, FaPingMulan! I would love to read it. I think you've already read it, but awhile back I wrote a fic in which Zac told Crysta he lived in an apartment in Sydney but I didn't give a lot of backstory to it, so I would like to see your take on Zac's on history.
