Oil spill in Gulf of Mexico

It's hard to believe something so horrible for the environment has happened, and so soon after Earth Day as well. =(

It makes me very sad to hear the news that the rig explosion still isn't even close to being stopped, let alone cleaned up. People like fishermen could lose their livelihoods when the oil reaches land, and so many animal species could soon be threatened if people can't get things under control . . . Especially beaches and wetland animals. Predictions are that when the damage is done, the impact would have been much worse than even Exxon Valdez.

I only keep hoping and crossing my fingers that we can stop it before it gets much worse, and save both humans and animals from danger.

Oh yes I heard about this too and with storms affecting the currents now there is a very high chance of it drifting all the way to florida endangering so many endangered species and habitats and causing people to lose there jobs it worries me so much and I hope so much that it can all be put under control before a whole bunch of bad things happen

I'm not sure if this information is accurate, but the radio I listen to said today that the leak was coming from 3 places, and today they are trying to (or have) capped one off. So if that's true, very good news there.

I sure hope that's true. I really hope they cap all the areas off soon, before too much more damage is done to more environment and wildlife.

Update - They actually built like a 100-ton container in an attempt to close off the place where oil was leaking into the ocean, but efforts have been postponed due to ice crystals (so I heard) growing in the box. Now even more oil is being released into the water, and rescue efforts have been furthermore delayed for now. =(
